| These never made it out of the Boy Scout troop meeting. I have orders to make more! 1 cup of soft margarine or butter add 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar add 2 teaspoon grated lemon rind and 2 teaspoon vanilla beat in 2 egg yolks add 2 cups of flour (sift flour and then measure), 1/2 teaspoon salt, along with 1/2 cup water add 12 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate chips Beat the 2 egg whites until stiff. Gradually add 1/2 cup brown sugar to the whites. FOLD this into the basic mix. Remember fold in not beat in. Line an 8-inch square pan with wax paper. Pour in the mixture. Trim any wax paper more than 1/2 inch above the batter line. Bake at 375 o F for 30 minutes - check with a toothpick in the center. You want this lightly browned and the tooth pick dry - except for chocolate. Cool before cutting. After turning out and cutting, sprinkle with confectioners sugar and chocolate sprinkles. |
