Long Grain Rice

        Salt Substitute - Herbal
        Salt
        1-2 Tablespoon margarine or butter
       1 cup dry rice
       2 1/2 Cups of water

        While the.dinner meat is cooking, prepare 2 Cups of rice per package directions. Boil the water. Add the rice and salt or salt-subtitute. Simmer with a lid on for about 20 minutes or until rice is tender. If you want a softer rice add 1/4 Cup of water.

Herbed Rice

        While the meat is cooking, prepare 2 Cups of rice per package directions. Season with herbal salt substitute.

Rice-a-Roni

        Watch out for packaged Rice-a-Roni - as good as it tastes - check out the sodium levels in that package. Never mind the fat! My rescue - Fix 2 cups of rice without any salt or margarine- add it to the Rice-A-Roni mixture made the low-fat way. Stir together. Low-fat flavor without so much guilt.

        A good reason to keep a few cups of leftover rice in your fridge. Saves time. Lowers sodium levels. As long as you don't pour soy sauce all over it.
