Jury Duty - During Recovery? I Don't Think So!

Last Edit December 21, 1998

They want me for jury duty on Jan 4th.
I support capital punishment for premeditated murder. We cull defective farm animals don't we?
I support castration for forced rape, marital or otherwise, and for child molestation. I don't believe this type of criminal should be allowed to reproduce. Remove them from the gene pool!
        Still want me?
Do we need to mention my attitudes about sex discrimination? Harassment? Assault?
I can't sit for more than 60-90 minutes without walking (bad back, bad bladder). Somehow that doesn't fit a jury box.
And I need my medication. And my Medifast.
And I have three mortgage payments (down from four) and $5/day just don't get there.
Don't tell me to raid my retirement funds! No one has that authority!
        So --- do I serve?
Alameda is the only county that would allow me to be eligible to serve.
        I've been to law school.
My ex is a defense attorney with the LA public defender's office.
I put him through law school. Why he married me.
I helped with his homework. The other reason.
I have advanced degrees - several. Can't figure out how many it takes for a woman to be successful. So I am still trying.
I am not a "peer" - I am considered an "expert".
The constitution requires peers be on a jury.
        Not in Alameda.
We have so many PhDs here - so many professionals. So many lost souls.
I do vote. I have dragged my kids to voting booths since they were little.
        I believe in the system.
Actually, as a budding writer, I would find it interesting - just not right now!
But I can't be sequestered. No way.
        I am claustrophobic.
