John's Celebration of Life Party (February 2005)

His urn is the silver thing on the table; the portrait was done by his art teacher, the photo is from his graduation. The "Broken Heart" flowers are the only funeral flowers I allowed. We had 8 dozen roses in two big vases, mixed colors. His art is in the foreground - one of his nudes. This one was displayed at the Gallery. People are viewing his condolence book my brother put together. We had emails sent from all over the world. They also viewed photo albums. I had a string of photos of his young life, framed and scattered along with a lot of his art. Two computers, his and mine, played slide shows of his progress through this nightmare. Dignity and grace.

Chuck at the Boy Scout table. Troop 534, Fremont CA arrived in class A uniforms to formally present John's Palm; he had the bronze palm award - an award above Eagle. It is pinned to his Eagle now. Unfinished business. He earned it but was too sick to pick it up. The open book at the bottom is John's Eagle trail - a collection of patches, badges and achievements.

For his young life, he had accomplished a lot. Imagine what he could have been if leukemia had not cut him down.

No More "One Size Chemo Fits All"
If anyone in your family or circle of friends gets diagnosed with cancer, you had better read this - there is a lifetime limit for chemo - and many, many doctors are pig-headed and don't listen to their patients or consult with other doctors on prior treatments.
If that is happening in your case - find another doctor!
They took away his ability to fight the Leukemia.
Not that there is a cure for AML. Just a short-time holding pattern.
We need a cure! We loose too many good people.

Kitchen Fire Photos At least it provided my very ill son with amusement
