Getting Ready

Last Edit September 2, 1998

Little Rock approaches. My hair is a wreck. I didn't call in time. She's booked. She's going on vacation. Can't have my hair done.
        So I died it burgandy.
        It's lighter than I want.
        Does burgandy go with purple?
I fussed and then went shopping. It's time to power-pack.
I haven't taken a trip in 3 and a half years. Not since the last time I ran after Fabio. (The LA Fan Club Meeting in 1995.)
They don't let me out much.
I found travel bags. Small containers. And lots of odds and ends. $244.00 worth. What was I thinking?
Nail polish -- instant dry. Purple. Light purple. And one in gold.
        New mascara.
        Purple lipstick.
        Purple eye shadow.
        New eye liner.
        Small batch of bubble bath.
Small cold cream to take it all off.
        New make-up totes.
        New tooth brush.
        Small tube of paste.
It's amazing how these little things add up.
The cashier rolls her eyes. Most shoppers at Longs do not spend that much.
Of course, there were three boxes of crackers, a jug of soda and other stuff to feed the junk-food cravings of a large (6'2") growing boy.
I figured I was now set.
        I packed.
        Three times.
        My son offered to help.
He's in the organizational mode. He has 200 die cast tiny airplanes marching down a wall shelf. Newly dusted I might add.
He has hung up his tee shirts. He has washed everything in his room and even polished his window.
If I wasn't focused on finding Fabio I'd faint.
Guess I'd better get his bathroom repaired when I get home.
