| | OK. Give a relatively sane woman the task of bringing up a Fabio web site and watch what happens.
I volunteered to do the Fabio website. I am a webmaster. Although you might not guess it from this site. This site is my "hobby" location - I actually maintain complex technical sites for various companies. I brought up the IMP site (www.impweb.com) and played for three years. Right now I have one on the Synopsys Intranet - complete technical training seminars and labs in PDF and HTML (Internal readers only).
So, it was only natural to jump at the chance to do something creative and FUN.
Fabio fandom is just that. FUN!
Ho hum.
Were those dishes that needed to be washed?
Did my 16 year-old actually ask for food?
Did the kitchen floor really buckle in the flood? And do I have to replace it?
What a bother.
Was that three or four loads of laundry I am sleeping with?
Do I really have to go to work?
I would rather play
I would rather scan those book covers - those I have my hands on.
Yummmmm.
And diddle with Photoshop. ($$$$) It lets me examine the pictures up close and.....)
I need the newer Boxtop compression gif and jpg program Photoshop plug-ins. (<$100)
Maybe I need Photo Delux too. (More $$$$)
I know I can justify a faster modem!!! 14.4 just doesn't cut it anymore. Not when checking on all those cute graphics.....
I definely need a bigger, faster CPU - the G3 PowerMac models look good.
The G3 Minitower from Apple is only $3,000+ - and it will drive a 24-bit 22" color monitor too.
That's only another $2,000+.
And, of course, that will obsolete my scanner.....($2,000+)
The minitower has video input - which means I'll just have to get Abobe Premier or one of its cousins. ($600+...)
And a better video tape recorder.....for the next time I catch him swinging on that vine....($400+)
The G3 Minitower also has a 6Gigabyte hard drive - I like big things.....especially hard drives......
And that will mean a better back-up system..Jaz?? Syjet?? 1 or 2 Gig? ($600+)
And the traffic on my web pages is increasing.
Can we say bandwidth charges?????
Aren't hobbies fun?
My son doesn't think so.
He tells me I am "always working" (What does he know?)
He complains I am not spending enough time with him. (I had just refused to watch the Stephen King X-Files.)
He did strike back - he bought the Wrestle Mania magazine for "mature fans" (slipped it into my shopping cart - heaven knows what they think at the grocery store) and presented me with the 4-part front and back foldout - Some buff guy wearing nothing but the championship belt and a smile.
Oh, OK. I looked.
He's cute. He's got a cute smile. He has long blond hair. The pose reminds me of Burt Reynolds. And the body is definitely worth looking at.
My son will tell me when he next appears on TV wrestling. He tells me this guy is Italian....
He's trying to distract me from his nemesis.
He encourages me to let guys hit on me (I usually brush them off with, "If you aren't 6'3" and Italian....) (The Boy Scout leaders in our troop found a 6'3" Italian working at the pizza parlour and pointed this out to me in retaliation....)
My son does defeat himself when the next thing he does is measure his chest - he's getting there - and remind me of his height - 1.5 inches to go.
That's OK. When he gets as big as Fabio I'll pose between them and pretend they are bookends - and I'm a book!
Ah, yes.....
Guess I'd better get to work. I need the money....
