I read the second Georgette Heyer mystery book (1936) this morning - since I kept falling asleep yesterday - having been awake all night.
Then - at high noon - I went out to attack the front yard - dressed to the gills in jeans, short, gloves, and sneakers.
But I got distracted. I found extendable loppers left form the contractor and I re-trimmed the backyard trees - and left the stuff on the ground.
(I will rake it later when it cools off - or real early tomorrow before work.)
(Like in a few weeks.)
Then I went out front and re-attacked that tall spruce thing (was 1 foot high when planted) and the fruit trees.
I chucked all the plums - really whacked that tree - and the second plum tree too.
I filled two garbage bins - recycling and garbage and trimmed the neighbor's liquid Amber hanging in my yard.
I was sweating - had trouble breathing - so used the asthma inhaler 4 times and then took off the long sleeved shirt - it was over 90.
I had a hat on.
It is not like San Diego where the heat is dry and I can breathe.
I cleaned up what I did today in the front - but there is a pile still waiting in the front yard for its turn in garbage bins, and plums everywhere underfoot (I had sneakers on).
I had not watered them enough - they are not sweet and I have way too many since I have at least 4 doz jars of stuff - I am sick of them.
The peaches are coming in - and I am watering them this week like mad.
I like them.
I probably have to remove trees from the front yard in San Deigo too.
20 years old - need to be "refreshed".
I was really gasping and overheated so I rinsed off in the shower (branches falling on your head can be messy), grabbed a beach towel and a bottle of water and my straw hat, and went out to sit in the spa for a cycle.
It is overfilled (I was servicing it yesterday - sat in it then too).
Nothing like sitting naked in a spa in the sun with a hat on.
Perfect thing for fat old ladies. (Let that vision run around your mind for a bit.)
Then I fled back to my room, lay down for a rest and to cool off (central air turned to 72 - usually kept higher - like 75).
The room air conditioner in the family room beating its brains in as well and when cooled off and my breathing OK, I took a real shower, washed my hair, which I have lightly trimmed edges on - it is growing out and is unruly as hell, and cooled myself down to normal.
I also realized that - at 2PM - I have not taken my morning medication and only had a couple bites of plums and a small bowl of raisin bran for breakfast. Probably why I am lightheaded.
Time to eat something --- a bite of cheese, my pills. I have to think about cooking. I have little ambition.
The only concern about living alone is that I could have a heart attack and no one would know.
Have to consider a lodger perhaps - or a hired companion to check on me so I don't lay around and rot.
Probably the only thing husbands are good for. Wonder if I should bother to get one.
