The New Kitchen

2005 Story Set

Date: May 28, 2005

Andy has replaced even the island cabinets in my kitchen - since I will sell this house 12-18 months from now.
It is absolutely stunning - John would have loved this one!
Should have done this before and it's not even finished.
Cost should come back on a sale ----
Andy swapped out some cabinets for some drawers - which I desperately needed.
The kitchen is not up and running yet - I remain cooking balanced on the bathroom sink.
Dishes in the bathroom sink - cooking via an electric skillet.
But today ---- I have an oven!!!!!
The new oven is out of its box and sitting pretty in place - no electrical outlets (It's on its own) (cabinets are in place too) and I even managed to set the clock.
Microwave on the floor (I am using John's - he had a refrigerator and for Christmas I got him a $500 JenAir microwave for his "apartment" - He never used it - I have).
Both microwaves are microwave - convection oven combinations.

You could program this puppy (the oven) to fly to the moon!
Took 15 minutes to decode the clock!
The burners are normal- glass top - like the other.
Comes with split racks? Never saw that one - you can do three shelves and still roast a small bird!
I just want to cook a pizza.

The oven and microwave are Black - and the counters come tomorrow - black sparkling quartz slabs, which John had told me to get . (He knew I was remodeling the kitchen when he went into the hospital - he had wanted me to have a nice kitchen).
If fact - he kept telling me that I put the fire out too fast.
Too bad the dishwasher is white (so is the fridge) - I'll have to think about that.
Insurance is only responsible for the oven, microwave, paint , track light and one small cabinet.
      The rest I am doing.
I did refinance - interest only - to get back the money I had "loaned" the house when I built him his "safe" and "Hepa filtered" apartment - the one I built to keep him alive - it did it's job - bacteria never got him.
Now I will spend that or "loan" it to the San Diego house and repeat the process.
Eventually the money will return to my retirement fund.
I insist that the houses carry their debts.

I saw the damage from 10 years of renting when I drove down.
      Back roof falling in.
      Yard a mess.
      Inside beat to hell.
Kitchen drawers overloaded and falling apart.
Sprinklers falling apart - I will run new ones and new topsoil and a new lawn when the rest is finished.
Andy said he wants to do the job - he has a fishing boat and a motor home

      $87,000 - 100,000

Then I will sell this one - and get a small place up here for weekdays and move the rest down there for weekends.
Spend 3 weekends a month down there until I decide to chuck it in and retire (6+ years away now).
The van will go down as the SD car - the truck stay here as the commute car.
      Makes sense.
      Glad I kept it.
I can fold down two storage units ($450 a month) and put that toward the second mortgage payment.
I already reduced the payment for the one I am in.
Should be able to squeak thru. I hope so. Am I crazy? Or just escaping?

We are warm - 80's - cool at night and morning.
I am not running the central air often - just at night to cool it off.

I have a room unit that beats itself silly - I may replace that one.
I have tarted to do that a dozen times.
Computer does not want to be warm.

As soon as I finish a round of doctor checkups - we will set the date for jumping out of the plane - my doctor wants to see photos.
(You get a DVD of this experience)
      Egad!

Chuck looking forward to chucking his mother out of a plane at 13,000 feet - or at least encouraging the staff to do so ------
