2006 Story Set
| Date: November 28, 2006 It was a simple task - I thought. Upgrade the G5 tower to match the MacBook. First of all - the newer OS is flying around - no, no, and no. NEVER buy a brand-new OS! Let the geeks debug it! Second, they want to know my "account". How do I know? I am dyslexic. I do not pattern numbers and passwords! So I tried to create a new account. I put in my new email address, and they went off on the password. I have two I use for everything because I cannot remember passwords. I do remember what I bought and Wells Fargo is very vigilant. To the extreme. Ooops - Seems I have used that email before. So now, they have to send me a new one - but first - what is my Apple ID? HOW DO I KNOW? I am dyslexic. I DO NOT PATTERN NUMBERS AND PASSWORDS! This is discriminatory. I finally reach a window with a question I CAN answer about 10 minutes into this mess - but wait - a complicated email arrives with a web address - and it is slow to load the page address because - I have to change my password. Of course I do. I preserve the email, which will self-destruct in 3 hours. I expect smoke from the hard drive. After that page is loaded and I make up a password (how about the one they didn't recognize - yeah - that works), I can stumble through actually buying the $140.00 package. But there is more! They want a signature on delivery! NO WAY! But - I can presign? (Go on-line and fill in -----) No thank you. Too complicated. How about a check box on the order form people??? Drop at door - YES. Or just sign the first delivery attempt slip. (That works for me.) Or select a delivery address at work - No - that will not work. I would never get it! When did the marketing people decide that they have to keep such close track of their customers that they make it damn near impossible for us to actually buy anything from them? If the Apple store was closer I would have walked in. My next option, is buy everything I need someplace else! Swift, guys! Very swift! |
