Adobe Flub

2006 Story Set

Date: December 18, 2006
Last week I got software from Adobe - one of two orders I had placed within 15 minutes of each other. 15 minutes!

A week has passed - and the rest of the stuff has NOT surfaced.

So I came in today with a copy of the order number and an email from Adobe saying that they had RECEIVED the order.

First - SanDisk screens emails, and email coming from my home computer must be a real serious threat because the one I sent myself is in the junk mail pool.

Second - any email I get takes two or three clicks to open because they deliver it in stages.

With my volume of management decisions and meetings and such --- I have enough email that this is a royal pain. I opened a TrackIt! Ticket to complain. They said I had to take a screen shot. So I did.

Then I call Adobe - because the first Adobe order - under $600 - for the upgrades to Creative Suite 2 to 2.3 (DreamWeaver 8, Acrobat 8) which I was after, and a FrameMaker upgrade to 7.2 for the Toshiba PC I have.

After 45 minutes with customer service tech support - because the Adobe store wouldn't answer their phone (We are busy with Acrobat 8 - call back later - Gee - that's nice!)
I was transferred into the proper area and they FINALLY tracked down order xxxxx29, whereas order xxxxx28 had been tracked by the other person but not xxxxx29.

Seems that the order was cancelled. Cancelled?

      Wait - by WHO?

Adobe claimed --- the credit card. (They were fussing around so I am not sure that they were sure.)

So after futsing around some more - and transferring me to sales - which took 5 minutes - and no, it can't get to me before Friday and I will be in San Diego for the week - I hung up and called Wells Fargo Visa - smoke pouring out of my ears.

Well - they are - in this case - blameless - for they cannot find any rejected charge, and for $1700+ they would have called me. More than once. And put a note on the file - no note.

Certainly after holding up my credit card at Home Depot in San Diego on my last trip while I was paying $6 for KEYS - because QVC had flipped bits on the expiration date and everything had come to a screeching halt --- EVERYTHING ---- Visa thought I had lost my card - no people - I have two houses (house rich and cash poor) - and I have my card so TURN IT BACK ON and USE THE CELL PHONE NEXT TIME (they said they had called and called - my old, disconnected number!).

No calls on the FrameMaker purchase.

So now I have to wonder - what on Earth? And why didn't ADOBE call me???? My son said they make too much money to worry about one little under $2,000 order.

I am waiting for the PO from SanDisk to come through - since I owe Visa over $9,000 (well - this month the bill is $7,000+ - the rest is next month's balance)
So I will wait ----- and reorder when I have the cash in hand.

You have to get the software and hardware in by December for deductions you see, so I did the upgrades all at once. I also have the new OS for the G5.

And it seems that the truck repair and WheelWorks, (> $2,000), Thanksgiving, shopping for stuff for the house, clothing, the scanner, my software, and other non-normal expenses all got together on one bill - just for fun. I must not have been paying attention. I do that about once a year. I usually try to spread out the madness.

Meanwhile, we are checking in Fry's to see if they have it on the counter somewhere. So I can avoid ordering from Adobe again.

      No luck so far.

      But I am patient.
