Jack the Cat

2006 Story Set

Date: June 13, 2006

      Stumbling out the door to work - after a hot - sort of - bath (must remember to get IN the tub while running the water---)
      I realized - yipes - it is nearly the 15th and June 15th is quarterly tax day
      Didn't I just finish doing taxes?
     
      So I ran in (after opening the bolt and lock I had just closed) and got stamps and stickers
      And ran back - I had envelopes and forms from the CPA in the truck
      Who had - neglected to contact me in a timely manner - fortunately - I am well trained
      - I contacted HIM.
     
      My CPA retired!
     
      I ran to the post office and dropped them in the slot - no return signature etc.
      Small enough amount.
     
      Then I came to work - still laughing over the news story on CNN about Jack the Cat
      A 10 yr old declawed tabby who roams the woods chasing rabbits etc.
      And who lives with an overly-friendly black lab. (That is key)

      Seams a black bear had wandered into his yard - and Jack took exception.
      He chased - yes chased - the black bear (average weight 350 lbs)
      Up a tree!
      The bear was actually nervous about the cat!
     
      Seeing the tree - I would have wondered if it could hold that sized bear!

      Jack of course is just pleased with himself.
     
      They said it was a case of two animals who didn't know how big they were.
     
      I would say that Jack routinely chases the black lab around.
      The lab was exhibiting puppy-like behavior during the filming of the news story.
     
      My dog - when Extra arrived on my doorstep with cameras - carried on so much - They had to do the taping with me sitting, leaning over and hanging onto her collar!
      The lab just brought his owner a toy and wagged his tail.
      Trim barked her damn head off until she could sit next to me and stare at the intruders. (The day after Fabio got whacked with the goose.)
      Made a funny interview.
     
      My cat Ranger comes to mind - also an orange tabby - he is currently ripping the shreds out of the garage door.
      He is kept in there to keep him off the new carpet. (House is for sale)
      He spent years trying to get INTO the garage - now he spends all his time trying to get OUT of it.
     
      I let him in on occasion - and watch -
      He heads for the one live plant (munch munch) and then rolls around and claws at the carpet - which gets him quickly sent back into the garage.
     
      Brief visits.
     
      Pleased with himself at the chaos and at being chased.
     
      They say orange tabby cats are the best.
      I am looking for a kitten. Orange of course.
