Toyota Struck Again

2006 Story Set

Date: Novemebr 11, 2006
Well - I ran the truck in for a LUBE and OIL.
I had seen a couple of drop of oil on the cement --- in my driveway.
Oh no! You can leak oil at 300,000 miles - not 100,000 miles - and not 86,000.
So I went for an early lube & oil and said to check it. (I suspected that washer - bolt in the bottom of the oil pan - because some mechanics do sloppy work. They strip the blot, they don't tighten it enough, they forget the washer, whatever.
And I said to fix the broken window (since I ordered parts weeks ago and have never been called).
And replace the dome light (they missed last time). Dome lights are important for a woman driving in the dark. It's a safety thing. Garages should be more careful.
And check the lights - the headlights in particular. Since a dome light went, you know how it goes, ping ping ping one at a time the rest will follow. Like replacing bulbs in an overhead fixture. One goes out - the rest follow.
And there's a funny noise in the heater-blower fan.
And no 90,000 mile service! - catch it on the flip side of the trip to San Diego. Truck is LOADED boys, I leave in the morning like at 3AM.
I need to go to San Diego. (I need to meet Tool Time and have them measure the new kitchen space.)

So I run in to Sunnyvale Toyota and drop off the truck and ride their shuttle to work. They pick up now.
      They said 3PM.
      OK by me.

By 3PM they said by 9PM.
Seems the oil drops were just a washer - screw assembly like I thought (oil pan).
But I also had moisture on the water pump - like - it's getting ready to blow
(like half way up the Grapevine haul). So they unnerved me.
And they think they can't say it would make this trip ---. Of course not. Want that money after all.
So it requires the thermostat, timing belt, and spark plugs (which I said no to but they did anyway).
In short - they did most of the 90,000 mile service. What was there in my statement of 90,000 mile service next time that they missed?
Except the tires - which I would strangle someone if they touch - WheelWorks takes are of my Revos. I made that very clear. Touch them - you die! (Well, not quite that violent - but near enough.)

      Well - I am screwed!
      And stranded!
I called Chuck who made a run to rescue me at 4:30 and
      took me home.
      He mangled my kitten.
Took me to dinner (he and his partner). Olive Garden. I had Salmon and broccoli and salad. The Salmon was out of this world good.
And then, after repeated phone calls, he took me back to Toyota when they said the truck was ready about 8:30PM.
Of course I had to call them - they never called me!

That's when I saw they did the spark plugs I said no to.
And the timing belt (I understand that goes with the water pump. As does the thermostat.))
      etc.
The heater fan was looked at - no more noise - have no idea.
The dome light is supposed to work.
      The window was fixed.
      They didn't touch the tires.
      $1167 worth of stuff
I don' think they missed anything on the check list - which pisses me off - I went in saying "Next week" for the 90,000! Well, they won't see me next week! I am spending Thanksgiving week in San Diego. Realtor wants to sell the house. Show the house. Or just annoy me and force me to do housework. (House is SUPPOSED to be off-listing. Market here is in the toilet and I am in no rush.) I am hoping to move boxes around (prep the garage for ToolTime staging of the cabinets. Hang the curtains I bought last year-----. I am always outdoors down there watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, errands, and swinging in the backyard swing.

I came home - tired - too tired to get up in the cold dark and run to San Diego. Chuck said NO. Hmmm. Didn't I make him sleep before running to Burning man???? He returned the favor. I woke up the next day after the garage thing at 8:30AM.
Had to cancel the Tool Time appointment and reschedule (to the day before Thanksgiving.) Surprised people at work.

Meanwhile I have to drive the car loaded for the week. Maybe unload it. I now have three animals to transport. Plus two ice chests. The vacuum. A few kitchen things - like the food processor and the big fry pan and the toaster if I can find it. And the BIG Turkey nestled in my freezer.
Perhaps I will shop Sat. before I leave. Or not. So some boxes go back into the garage to make room. Oh well.

      Summer is calming down,
      Climbing my leg.
Trying to get me off the computer (she likes the chair).
Chuck, when he visited, ran her right up a wall chasing a laser pointer,
And then right up the patio door (drape over it).
      Poor little thing.
She's pretty much her own cat however, and she sets the rules.
She got tired of him and hid under a bed. When dragged out, she turned her back on him.
Now she's hunting more chicken ----she ate some out of his hand. He made a peace offering. I tried that. She tried to eat my hand too!

Watching her eat boiled chicken is an adventure - gobble gobble gobble
like a vacuum cleaner. Never seen a cat eat so fast.
And then she has that voice --- that FEED ME MORE CHICKEN voice.
I had to run out and buy more chicken breasts and made sure I didn't run out.
It pacifies her when I fall half asleep and drop a paperback book on her in the bed.
Well, she pinned me to the bed Saturday after I did five loads of wash, vacuumed the house and prepped the kitchen floor for scrubbing. Made me stay there reading 2 novels and 2 short stories.
Drapes herself over me to sleep. She's somewhat of a Slinky.
      Pins me down I say.
Yeah. Took the cat awhile to settle. Sure it did.
She took over the damn house. She has Ranger slinking away from her - She growls louder.
      Poor guy.
Well, he'll learn. Some women are timid. Some are not!
Summer is NOT! She's my cat!
