2007 Story Set
| October 3, 2007 So - after racing up the road from San Diego - figuring I'd have the afternoon and fighting the need to sleep while driving at 85 MPH --- or whatever ---I came home - unpacked and went to bed by 1PM - that's 1 hour after NOON. I just woke up - at 8PM - took a moment - thought it was morning. OK - if I only sleep 2 hours - my body WILL get even! I had unpacked everything except the defrosted chicken parts package - in the sink. So I got a big pot out and put the chicken parts (the bag of breast meet pieces I keep around - take out - cook and eat without defrosting normally). Well - the pot of water FOAMED. I drained it and rinsed it again (3 qts of water per rinse). and again with salt and again OK - never again will I use frozen chicken pieces without defrosting and WASHING. It also means that our food isn't all that safe - they check the FRESH chickens - not the FROZEN. They have been cooking now and drained AGAIN. Once fully cooked, they should be OK. I washed the sink, sponges and counter in CLOROX. (I am a great believer in Clorox.) So - who do I discuss this with? Because people should KNOW they need this little extra step. Prob why when I eat chicken I always have a little indigestion -----. OK - coffee - -fed dog and cat (who can hear cat food can open from anywhere in the house no matter how quiet you are popping that top - THUMP - and here she comes). I am not hungry at the moment --- haha Maybe jello ---- PS - I was raised on a chicken farm - I learned to always wash the birds - with salt and warm water - like a couple of times. Salt being a preservative. Seems we really ought to go back to that bit of farm-house methodology. Holds for turkeys too. |
