Overslept

2007 Story Set

 January 27, 2008
      So I overslept.
      So what.
So Summer did a dance on my hip and trotted around on the plastic mats (tic tic tic).

I rolled over - 8:30AM - cuddly and warm - I would have slept longer and my hip was letting me be in different positions (It traps me into ONE position on occasion). I had gone to bed very late and downed a second small glass of red wine. I need a lower-sugar red wine. Will shop for that. Supposed to have 1 glass a day. Blood pressure.

      I got up.

I put the dog out - let her eat the soggy wet dog food (she prefers it that way - I serve it wet). She will spend the day rolling in mud and digging up the yard.
The dog food and the yard have been rained on (a lot). I need to check the storm tracker for San Diego - they evacuated parts of LA (mudslides) - lost people in avalanches (unheard of in the LA mountains) and flood channels and street drains can't hold it. My home is top of a hill - I need to check erosion (I have plants re-establishing but not yet enough).

I came out and found I went to bed (at 2AM) and left the gas fake stove (fake wood stove - gas powered) in the family room set up high - ooops - the main furnace was down low however.

Sunlight!! Wow! After days of wet - short lived but I threw open the drapes.

The Kitten-cat was insistent - and did her thing. Race - leap - attack a throw rug (even with nails trimmed she can do damage) mew and cry and generally make a nuisance of herself. (Normal Fancy Feast can feeding time is 6:30AM)

I flopped in a sunbeam to finish waking up (nose stuffed - eyes draining) and found Blazing Saddles - which I love.
The man playing the black Sheriff died - a real tragedy. He was very funny.
It and Space Balls are still high classic - well - Robin Hood Men in Tights is pretty damn hilarious too.

The cat continued her leaping and jumping. I finally went to the kitchen and loaded the dishwasher (remembering the one in San Diego needs repair or a new one - I think a new one. That will mean I have all the appliances - the microwave still on the floor - and remodeling will just be the cabinets, counter, sink and floor.)

The cat --- watched? HA! She tripped me and rubbed my ankles and generally made me aware of my faults.
I fed the beast (She will stand up and put her nose and paws on the open can if I hold it just off the floor. No Chuck - she can't open it herself.)

The counter washed, decaf made, the dishwasher running (I do full loads) I returned to my computer for email and my new eBook.

The monitor was barely on the table ----- Seems that Summer had done her leap through the cord trick ------

I have the back leg on an inverted mouse pad to help keep it from sliding (HEY - STEVE JOBS - PUT NON-SKID FEET ON YOUR MONITORS!!!!!!) Man must not have cats.

I hauled the cord up out of harm's way and checked for teeth marks.

I still need to replace the 9' Ethernet cord she chewed. I find my speakers on the ground at intervals. We won't discuss the iSight camera (old one). Or the teeth marks on my new office chair. The denuded USB device. Or the traveling mouse.

OK - I am reorganized. I will toss on some clothes besides a big floppy over-sized homemade flannel nightgown I use in this weather. No raking leaves today!
I do need to go find a file cabinet - sleeping with a 32" TV within inches of your head is not cool. Not when you are used to a 12".
Debating. Return the 21" which is slowly dying to Fremont (then I will have two dead TVs up here) and take the 32" South to that room. (TV sits across the room in San Diego).
Or wait and make the Fremont family room over as a 4th bedroom with a walk-in closet. Skip the bathroom work for now ($$$$) and have the 32" across the room from the bed. Sounds better. I can lift the new flat light TVs. Even the 42" can be shifted. (Not the rear-projection high-res 52" in San Diego - it's in place - PERIOD.)
The old 21" - is upstairs in the bedroom in San Diego (that's a trip to move) and difficult to struggle with - even rolling it around on the seat of an office chair. Office chairs don't work on stairs.

My eyes drying - my nose clearing - my coffee almost gone - OK - time to settle in. Read, type - alternate (keeps my eyes and hands from straining).

Mansfield Park runs on PBS tonight - new version. Can't wait to see if it's good. That is a powerful story, but short versions have to cut out so much ------.
