2007 Story Set
| October 16, 2007 Well - it's been a month since I called AT&T about fraudulent long-distance charges on my phone bill, so I checked the new phone bills and sure enough - the fraudulent charges I challenged last month were added back on along with a hefty late fee! OH NO YOU DON'T! I called - got thru voice mail hell (if you repeat the same word over and over it goes bats) and complained. Loudly. My G5 MAC is on DSL and DOES NOT dial out by itself. The calls were made: When I was in San Diego When I was at work When I was sleeping I do not have a phone PLUGGED IN! The DSL line is strictly for the computer! I use a CELL PHONE! (Verizon). Old cell phone. I do not have a phone plugged in in San Diego either! Again - just for the computer. (Oh, I can plug one in and make a local call because it's silly to place a long distance call on the cell when I am actually IN San Diego. But I quickly unplug it. I am not on DO NOT CALL - I am on CANNOT CALL.) God help the idiot who calls me on my cell phone! (Been one or two.) Any businesses are given the cell phone. A FREMONT number. So -- I went thru one person ---- then got transferred (count up to 20 minutes sitting with phone in ear - the office phone - I was editing a FrameMaker file while waiting) - got another person. I said they never called me back. She said they did (cell phone) - I didn't get the message. (Not the first lost message.) She said they said it was a dial-up (yes) and therefore valid. 30 calls to one number? In San Diego? When I wasn't home? (They originally said it was a crossed wire.) If I was in fact making these calls, why did I YANK Long-Distance service off the phone? Can't make a long distance call if my life depended on it. That's why I have a cell phone. When I called from the office, I got a fax tone. Interesting. (Maybe I should call again.) They claim it is a valid dial up number. At 3AM? Anyway - I said oh no - those are NOT VALID CHARGES. Neither is the late fee. And they have issued a disconnect - which made me see RED. OK - they made a note - they took off the charges including the late fee, and they removed the disconnect. Lovely. Wanna bet it's back next month? In which case, the PUC will be notified about their screwing up. (Public Utility Commission.) Nevermind my web page. Turn off my DSL - I WILL sue you. I just launched my business! I am an email person! 98% of EVERYTHING is via email! Like it that way. I keep my email you see. FOREVER. Put it on a DVD on occasion. Can find it. MACs are good for things like that. May take awhile to search 100,000 emails - but they can. (I have an Apple G5 tower, a BIG MAC, running 10.4.10. LOVE THIS WORKHORSE!) |
