2008 Story Set
| It is a 3-day weekend - and like I always do - I start with a list of chores and things to accomplish that I can't possibly do on a workday. Ambitious list. There's the check to drive to BofA and deposit. If the bank were right nearby - perhaps. But it is on the way to work. Or right by work. Or someplace I haven't learned yet. The yard must be weed-whacked and trimmed. And plants dug up and moved so they can go to San Diego. But it's hot as Hades - coming off 100-102 degree days, high humidity, and I haven't managed to walk on the treadmill. I have read, glutton that I am, three of the 10 new books. New videos were ordered but didn't make the holiday. I forgot what I ordered. (PD James - two DVD - for the collection I have built.) I haven't ordered new Midsomer Murders (Region 2 - Britain). I have Blood Ties - unviewed - in Region 2. Now they say that Region 1 (USA) is coming out - I had Amazon set an alert. I wonder if they will do all 24 episodes. I got off my fat back (flopped on a cheap saggi couch - looks good for showing) and actually made breakfast. 1/4 cup egg and egg white, 1/4 cup 2% milk, and 1/4 Cup Krusteaz Belgian Waffle mix, poured the whipped up mess into the BIG electric skillet (Canola Oil) and cooked it quick (300-350) as a crepe - even flipped it and then rolled it up. Real Maple Syrup. I just had a Medifast Cappuccino. Lunch. I have managed to get up, having finished the 3rd book in the series (sort-of a newer PD James - except I can tell where the storyss igoing - almost - in these early books - and am more interested in the characters. I LOVE Adam Dalgliesh in the PD James books.) I ruthlessly pulled my hair into a ponytail. That republican VP looks like my clone when I was in my 40s. Hair pulled back, bangs, glasses, black suit. Yep. The mid-life career woman on the rampage look. Bet that comes back into style. Bitches in heels. Hilary can wear Orange (STUNNING SUIT!) with her coloring - I could when I was younger. And Hillary is a Senator. (Watch how she dresses in the Senate.) Ho Ho Ho. 18 million cracks in the damn ceiling? Haven't they heard about that on-call service that can come out and fix cracks in your windshield (depends on the crack). Anyway, I started laundry, did a load of dishes, hung up clothing, and unpacked a suitcase from the last trip. I have the number and name of a face doctor. I have located - in Palo Alto - a MEDIFAST dr and clinic. I am thinking - need to do that. Can't manage on my own. I need to finish sewing my dress - it is hanging. (The one for the wedding.) The one for Fabio gets to wait - since that event was canceled. I will be in San Diego for a week anyway - and see about finding the tree guy. And maybe digging out the front for the rock arrival. Or call the landscape guy - need sprinklers. I am focused on Fremont - rip out the front yard - go to plain grass - get a gardener to mow bi-weekly. Somehow, in the heat, all ambition leaves. I am sweating - just sitting at the computer. The room unit running. The central one running too (I think - I need to look.) I need a fan, for the garage (Ranger's domain) and I need to get off my ass. Not in this heat. I am in PJs - about to loose the robe (light-weight). In hot weather it used to be a bikini. Now it's loose shorty pajamas - tank or sleeveless top and shorts. The new black set actually looks good. I actually look thinner. Since my underwear started falling off - I guess I have lost some weight. Need smaller underpants. Size not style. I prefer granny-panties. Who am I impressing? The fog was there this morning, probably why I was prone. (headache) Now it has lifted and from now to sunset - the family room will heat up. (As will the garage.) Sun beats right at both of them. I read - and the book falls from my hand. I fall asleep. I wish I had never moved the SOFTTUB SPA. It sits disabled and unused in San Diego while I suffer up here. Maybe I need a wading pool - a big one------ I took my pills. Summer, ever practical, has raced periodically around the house like an orange ghost. She still runs lop-sided. She likes to curl up at my feet or in the crook of my knee in the evenings. She still sleeps like a lump pressed to my hip at night. I actually can't sleep unless she's in bed with me and if I get up later than usual, I find her missing and the bed feels empty. I have become an old cat-lady. I even have conversations with her. I have managed to hang up clothing, new hangers and all. And round up the laundry. My bedroom and bath are reasonably clean. So is the spare bedroom. And the 3rd bedroom has its boxes. Shall I ship them? Or not? I need a new bed - aren't they on sale this weekend? I need a file cabinet or two or three and 4' high bookcases - all these for San Diego. I need a couple more 4' bookcases. Here. There. I know where the store is ------. I need to get a few things from the grocery store - not desire to cook or eat. If I go, I would get chocolate. CSI is running its Saturday marathon. Better than nothing. I have seen them too often. I will watch the opening show - not sure I will stay with it if the lead actor leaves. Only three episodes left of the Closer season (restarts in March). I even got into the more hectic and dark Saving Grace (as long as they don't talk religion it's OK). There is a new vampire show on HBO - I don't get HBO. Trying to figure that out at the moment. Do I need to upgrade my package? Receiver? I have Direct TV. All these things. What about the ear thing for the cell phone? I'd probably have to actually get a more modern cell phone. Not! Chuck will come soon and help me get my failing Acrobat 9 PRO talking to my HP 2420d Lasrjet printer. It connects to my G5 tower with 10.4.11 OS via USB. By late afternoon I made shrimp Scampi (Grogon's - hey - it's great!) and veggies (5-7 minutes in the bag in the microwave - lots of soy beans). Enough for tomorrow as well. Good Microwave - no hot stove. It is later and I have read four books (plus the one I had read in the first place - the last in the series until the new one). I managed to be good on my diet all day - until I gave in to the urge to have choc pudding (Cook & Serve) fat-free and sugar-free made mostly with non-fat milk (powdered). 3 cups. Then I ate the whole batch (took 4 hours but I did have it all). Can't be doing that again. Call this SUPPER. I did - once the heat wave broke - walk on the treadmill 3/4 mile with a peak speed of 2.8 MPH. Getting there. Broke a sweat. Didn't think I'd get to the .75 mark. Next goal - 1 mile. Done it once so far. Need a fan or the air unit on. Need to sew the dress tomorrow. CHECK. Meanwhile, I am eyeing book five in my detective series. I am a glutton. |
