Pre-Thanksgiving Cooking

The boys arrived - so Chuck could cook stuffing.

I had a too-short pie crust and made the pumpkin pie with it.

Hate that! (Pastry cooks know what I am taking about - the pie dough is too greasy, oily, too much shortning.)

Apple pie will be made after the invasion is over.

Chuck is busy cooking up the stuffing (sausage onions, garlic (elephant)
celery water chestnuts, mushrooms).

BUT FIRST - they had to find Summer (who clawed him) and drag her to the kitchen (she had been begging for early food - now is hiding under pillows).

They put her on the floor. Why they do this I do not know.

Summer - tail like a Halloween cat - went to run out of the kitchen (away from her tormentors) and Chuck raced to the other kitchen door.

Summer - not to be restrained - looked up and before I could scream ---
LEAPT to the kitchen counter - MISSED the pie filling dish - MISSED the pie plate with crust, and MISSED the rising bread dough -- and tore-ass out of there

Like there was time to more when you sae what was coming.....

I screamed - Chuck and Rob collapsed laughing and we all checked for stray cat hairs (all over the stove top but not in the pie crust or filling or bread bowl.

FOR A MOMENT!!!!! I was nearly going to have hysterics!

Meanwhile - bleeding turkey in the sink - fridge cleaned - rugs up for floor cleaning - and ice packs into the ice chest so the big bottle of Vodka is in the freezer (small fridge up here). I may need it - no - not the Vodka - the Bourbon!

When he's done stuffing the bird they will run for dinner - I will make the apple pie - bake the bread - and I will get up early and put turkey in the oven (will pack it in ice tonight - leave screen door open).

Tomorrow we feast .
