and then dropping the bird ---- and flash-cooking a pumpkin pie

And of course - we used Bourbon on the bird. Not too much.

Tented it. (2 Cups of Bourbon in the stuffing is too much - and adding a cup of bourbon over the bird when it is tented --- well - the alcohol does not escape. We were loaded one year. All of us. Me and my boys. Absolutely feeling no pain---)

Chuck had accidently added too much water to the stuffing --- because he read the bottom recipe (which we usually make) - I made a SMALLER amt this year. Only two bread bags.

So we added flour and 2 eggs.

fine.

(There was a cup that didn't get in the bird - I baked it and had some for my dinner - it is excellent.)

Tied up the legs (sewing thread).

And the tried to get it into the BIG ice chest.

We dropped it! It ended up sideways and the foil pan was coming apart.

So ---- we hurried to rescue the bird --- I ran for a box but he decided the fridge (shelf out) - and leave the pies to fend for themselves. (I will cook within hours).

Speaking of pie --- Chuck - while stuffing the bird - smelled PUMKIN --- oooops.

He did turn down the oven - but you have to turn it OFF first.

He didn't do that because I forgot to tell him.

Oven reset itself. Of course it did.

We have --- rapidly cooked pumpkin pie --- we have tasted the scrap pie - delicious. Caught in the nick of time.

sort of rapid cooked custard -- it's fine

so is the crust

OK - recover (they left for dinner)
and get bread into oven and apples peeled (I have their food processor).

Summer still hiding.

They will sleep in and be up late in day - maybe a movie maybe not.

Meanwhile I will try to get into the yard for some yard work up here - maybe dig up a few plants.

Must move logs - dog is digging again.

Right now - I want to watch BONES and set the bread to cook - dough is GREAT and now must shape and let rise again.

Rraisins and almonds in 1/2 - Rob likes his plain (both get iced).

Good thing I had some wine early.
