About the Fabio IFC Site - FAQQ: Where is the site located? A: The site is locatedw ithon my website area but has been given its own domain name. www.FabioIFC.com is pointing to a folder in my web area. I own the site. Q: When I did a search I found a Greetings Page with photos of some woman and Fabio, etc. What is that? A: That is my personnal greetings page - its been on-line for three years and the search engines know where it is. Set your browser's bookmark file (Add Bookmark or Add to Favorites) on the splash page or the opening greeting page for the fan club and you won't have to look at me again!. Q: When I was running around on the site, I ended up on someone's home page. What happened? A: You clicked on the webmaster's name (Donnamaie E. White - White Enterprises) at the bottom of the page and went to MY home page. Either back up (the Back button on your browser) or click on the link to the fan club's page (there are two on that page to help you) and to go back to the Fabio site. I know you are doing this because that page has a counter that recently jumped up 115 ticks in two weeks - vs 500 in a year previous to the addition of the Fabio pages! Or, you were on one of the weblinks pages (LINKS.html or LINKS2.html) and jumped to another site on another server in a gallaxy far, far away.... Again, use the Back button on the browser, or click on your bookmark to return to the Fabio pages. Q: When on the booklist page, when I click a link I go to Amazon.com?? Why?? A: The Fabio site is a registered Amazon.com Associate. If you want one of the books that they carry, and click there from within the fan club pages, they can track you. You can buy the book at discount and they will pay a small (token) royalty. He isn't doing any new books that I know of - except he is on the ICBINB cookbook. Note that Amazon.com is an on-line bookstore and they have associate sites all over the web. It advertises them and they advertise his books. It's all part of the new way to do marketing. We all point to each other. The web tries to be friendly. Barnes and Noble and Borders and other on-line bookstores do carry some Fabio books. However, I can only point to the one - I have a contract with Amazon at the moment. Q: When I clicked on a link it was broken - I didn't see the graphic, the graphic broken symbol came up on the page or I got a "404" message - page not on the server. A: First, reload the page - the internet uses phone lines and I am sure you have had phone calls where you could hear other conversations (crosstalk). A page reload might correct the broken graphic. For missing pages and graphics, e-mail me and put the following: under subject say "BROKEN LINK", in the body of the message give the page address (the http address or location) of the page you were on that you couldn't jump off of (the calling page). If possible, list the address that wouldn't load - it should have come up at the bottom of the browser window. My e-mail address is on my home page ( http://www.white-enterprises.org Q:I have a web page with pictures of me and Fabio. Can you add a link to my page? A: Yes. Email me and put "ADD A LINK" in the subject area. Give me your http address. I'll look at it first (my site is rated "G"), then add it. NO PORN PLEASE. My son surfs the web! (Yes, it is out there!) Q: I have photos but no web site. Can you add my pictures? A: No, not at this time. Contact the fan club if you have photos and/or Fabio stories. They may eventually wish to have a changeable fan's photo page - 3-4 pictures per month - but that would have to come from the fan club, not an individual fan. I charge normal people $80-100/hr for web work. Fabio is a hobby! (An expensive one at the moment!) A photo takes 20 min to 40 min work minimum to scan, edit, convert, link into a page and up load to the site. There are about 60-100 photos on-line for Fabio at this site, counting the covers. Q:Why isn't the newsletter on-line? A: At this time, the newsletter is the news pages on-line. I add news as I get it. There are no funds for printing hardcopy so you must get the news from the web. Q: Why don't you have new pictures? A: I only have what I have been sent, had on hand, or found elsewhere on the web. If the fan club or Fabio's people send me new photos, I will be happy to add them. Q: I found a Fabio site you don't have listed. Do you want it? A: Of course! Use the same directions listed above to ADD A LINK. Several people have been doing this already. Q: I e-mailed a question about Fabio and have not received a reply(?) A: I try to answer questions that I get via e-mail (DO NOT SEND ME SNAIL-MAIL PLEASE) and you can send to the office - the address on the web. Q:When I was jumping around, I found a bunch of short stories. How can I add mine to this page? A: You were probably on my story page - it is not part of the Fabio site - it is one of my site's pages. And I have many short stories and essays, about chasing Fabio around, kids, scouts, writing HTML, Estrogen troubles, the history of zippers, and whatever moves me at the moment. (Hey! It's MY PAGE!) Q:You don't have all his bookcovers listed? Why? A: I listed what I owned or could confirm. If you have others, let me or the fan-club know. Tina Jakes and I will be adding more pictures in the future. Q:Why aren't the calendar photos on-line? A: [1]: That would be too blatent a copyright violation! I have a bit or piece here or there and full disclaimers are on the site. [2]: The photos are too big for my flatbed scanner. So is he.... [3]: Some of the photos were pushing the "G" rating a bit - and he's not all that happy with them! [Check out http://www.white-enterprises.org/LINKS2.html - the court case.] He has moved on to other things..... What happens when we sign the guestbook? A: The guest book was put up to see traffic, who and where (from all over), what was wanted (everything), what was liked/disliked (loved it - want more photos, more news, etc.), and what equipment was being used. If I am going to get a new browser, what do you recommend? A: Both Internet Explorer 5.0 and Netscape 4.7+ can be downloaded for free: http://www.netscape.com and http://www.microsoft.com. You need at least level 4.0 whatever browser you are using. |
