Oh Apple! What Have You Done To Me Now!

2000

I am very proud of myself - I did the bookmark! With bleeds and 1/8" indent for text etc. Loaded the Zip and have the paperwork ready to finish in the morning - I will Fedex on the way to work. That and money. I am good to go.

        But now the horror starts!

First - Penny couldn't finish the poster (she will do the cover) because she had server troubles and had an emergency class to teach.
I don't know if she did the ad.

Then they couldn't Fedex stuff back to me 'till today - so I don't have the poster art.

And nobody communicated for three days! (phone and e-mail tag).

And I need a new quote and my guy from the printing house (Banta)- is stuck in the snow in CO.

And so is Troy. (Vail) Hopefully he will be back in Florida when I get there Saturday! WE have to shoot the whole calendar in a week!

Then.....I try to cut a CD on my G4's write-able DVD drive - to test how to do that so I will be ready tomorrow and .... I don't have one! They shipped a DVD-ROM and not a DVD-RAM or so the software (Apple system check) says. The order was pretty clear. It's an e-mail. I have it. I keep e-mail. I move it from computer to computer. Lots of it. (All the Fabio forms for example.)

This is the same system I paid extra to get in 3 days and they then sent it to the wrong address and my son and I had to track it down.
I will point this out when I have them on the phone tomorrow.

The G4 can't see the blank CD-R. Is it the right media???? Is the listing in the software wrong? I did everything I was told to do. My sons you see know about these things. They had given me clear directions.
Insert disk - then drag - when you see the icon. After it asks for the format. Well, it doesn't get to the icon. So it never asks for format.
        And there we sit.

The art and Quark take a CD (685MB) instead of a zip (100MB) because of their size.
        So I am basically screwed.

The bookmark goes in tomorrow. On zip. I leave Saturday.

I have a number for Apple to call at 5AM - oh, I will be on the phone!
If ComputerWare can swap out the drive I could make it. (Take the computer to work....pays expediting service charge of $60.00) I would have to sleep on the plane! (I am not flying an MD-80.)
If not - I won't make the April 1st deadline for promo.
I was going to finish the poster and pack it with me - get the quote faxed to me at the hotel and send it out from FLA.
Why don't I just send the poster out after the ads have run? That way I do a promotion three months running.

OH, SCREW IT - I WILL DO IT THAT WAY!

I can do the ad when I get back. (It's due the first). I can do it myself if I have to and do it in a day. It should fit on a zip. Smaller.

I am going to pack now and have a glass of port - or a tranquilizer - I have nearly had a heart attack this evening
I am screaming and near hysterics. I am pushing my PMS days ahead by three so I can get back from the trip without cycling and I think my system isn't happy. It wants me to have PMS NOW DAMMIT! no matter what my head says.

But I have a new tee-shirt - with Troy on the front and www.JettisonSaga.com on the back.

I haven't heard from Fabio's people yet about the date

I died my hair twice and still have gray at the temple. I'm going bald at the temples and need to shave my face once or twice a month for those wild downy long hairs that suddenly sprouted after I turned 55. Another of Mother Nature's attacks on our sanity.

I did buy 10 quick picks - the lottery is at 55Million.

My younger child showed off his over-18 age and bought 2 himself.
So he wouldn't have any more money and he could get the $100 bill out of my wallet.
Because the older child pays me back $100 every other week in $100 bills.
And the younger son knows this.

While I was getting the tee-shirt this evening - he acquired another $100+ worth of clothes.
Because he has decided to be more colorful and fashionable and suddenly realized he looks good in $50 Dockers dress slacks
and layered shirts - the top shirt being a dress shirt worn open. (No. Not the $100 bill - my Visa. He even thought about signing!)

He is now chasing me around the house teaching me to shoot with the Rebel-G and its lenses.
And demanding that I cook supper (it is 11:10PM) because I am "still here".

        Troy is in trouble!

        I need care and cuddling.

The tall blond one better not be far behind!
I need big arms around me - hide me from the world for however brief the moment!

What was that ratio - one pound of dark chocolate = one good ........
Where is that See's bar I bought to help send a kid to camp? Did my kid eat his yet?
Maybe this week I'll have the answer to the "28 things I could do in the first half hour...." Troy's pickup line.
        Best one I ever heard.
        Certainly got my attention.

Right now my attention is on frying steak and that ice cream lurking in the freezer. Toffee. Fudge. Something. Sugar. Low fat. Little bit. (Not the kitten.)

To top off the steak. While I round up dishes and wonder when I will get the kitchen floor mopped. And I need to get rabbit food. How many hours before I fly out of here? I will pack tomorrow. I will do laundry. I will answer e-mail for the last time. For a whole 10 days. I will check and recheck that I have hats, vest, sample poses and Fabio calendars in tow. And the 450 flyers. Camera. Notebooks. My medication. And clothes. Good thing to take. Clothes. No bathing suit. Bathing suits do not belong on this old body. Not at this point in the yo-yo. Sun screen. And the camera or two and film. So when Troy drops and does 20 at my feet this time I can get the shot........ (He does that to "pump up". Fine by me.)

Something awesome about that. A well-built man stretched out at your feet and you have to not respond! Guess I haven't gotten around much lately. Because I certainly do. (I am gifted with photographic recall. That can be fun on occasion.)

I won't get sleep tonight.

I am wound up higher than a kite.

Just Breathe! Apple - Can you hear me!? Someone had better answer the phone at 5AM because I will be calling......And Steve Jobs' e-mail is-------
