2000
| Tuesday September 20, 2000 I brought steak again - although he threw up last night - and restarted chemo last night. I found him very asleep - turned out they had given him benedryl - for the Vanco - and Valium - for the pain - and he was in lala land. Could not wake him up for an hour. My older son arrived - and he ahd trouble waking him up. I went and fetched the nurse - I think he's OD'd - because he woke up with a crying jag. I've had that. Valium was a favorite medication for doctors to give women in the 70's - take it for stress, take it for back pain, take it for an ulcer - had three prescriptions going at one time - if I had ever taken it...... At any rate - I took some one time and had a crying loopy jag of my own. My back was out. I was married to my first husband - the one that drove me to the hospital - and on into the parking lot and had me walk, in severe pain, into the emergency room with a spastic back muscle. Sweet man. Small wonder I'm single! This time, the doctor had to "talk to me'. "Oh. We gave that much before.' "Not with Benedryl!" "Oh It should be alright." "No. This is an OD. Cut the dosage." So they cut the dosage. Jeeeze! Can't they recognize and overdose when they see one? Anyway, the older one, who has friends that have gone through this foot pain thing, talked his brother through getting up, calming down, and we together got him into the shower. I washed him up - he sat for awhile (sitting up is necessary). Then we got him dry and my older one had the floor covered with blankets and between us we walked him to the door of the room and then to the bed. Walking is a must. It will help him heel. He's upset because he can't see how he will get from the truck to the house when I get to take him home. I remind him if I need one I will get a wheelchair. But walking is the intent. He's worried about his chemo schedule for houston. Good. Worry about that. He could go to the center in the daytime and attend the functions at night. Whatever. I have the plane tickets. I guess I need to order the Tom Greene Fabio tape - good thinking on somebody's part. I think it's silly but I'll watch Fabio be silly over watching anyone else. Why not? The calendar is submitted to Amazon.com and now we wait for it to get listed. Jettison is there with a cover. But Amazon is "investigating" eBooks. Damn. No help for it. I need to bring up my own site. It languishes because I am too busy at the moment and because I don't yet have that piece of website skill. Guess it is time to learn it. We all sat around and had Italian sweet bread and strawberries. And John had steak. So did I. My eldest went home - and will come back each night if possible to help my younger one walk. Further each day. More upright each day. Family project. If he keeps this up he gets to play with the G3 laptop and the new DiabloII game this weekend. The G3 laptop the one that the older one is angling for. Or was. Now he wants a G4 laptop. The younger one wants an iBook. Christmas must be coming, I want my date with Fabio. |
