CALL TO ARMS: DO YOUR JOB

2001

September 19, 2001
      Do your job.
That's what they are telling us.
And I am trying to do mine.
Actually, I get a lot done when I just dive into the PrimeTime Static Timing Analysis course I am studying and readying for eLearning format (repeat that three times) and forget what I've just had bombarded at me for the last 12 hours.
Because, if we don't live our lives with the same freedom that we had before, we let the SOBs win.
I don't intend that they shall win.
So I didn't write stories for a few days.
I also had the stomach flu.
      Reasonable rest period.
      But now I must return.
      With a vengeance.
I must write, and write funny stories.
Like Jay Leno and his monologue, people are entertained by my stories.
They can dive in and forget. For a minute.
      It helps the healing.
It helps to take a break.
It keeps you from being overwhelmed.
      So I go to work.
I drag my kid for chemo.
      I fight traffic.
      I shop.
I will go to the mall.
I will go to the movies.
I am getting ready to go to Orlando in November.
Just not ready to book a flight.
      But I will.
      And I will write stories.
Because America must get back to work.
And must not let this disaster beat us.
      We have seen evil before.
      We lost 5-6,000 on Tuesday.
They baked millions in the ovens.
      Lest we forget.
We must each shake off the horror and move to keep the country moving.
Keep the economy struggling up from the canvas.
      And do our jobs.
No matter how little we deem their importance.
In the end, they are each important in their own way.
      Little drops of water,
      Little grains of sand,
      Make the mighty ocean
      And the promised land.
