The Green Beads

2001

August 23, 2001
I have been acquiring green clothes of late - because I have green eyes.
First it was Evergreen peach skin from Susan Gravor. It's a darker green, almost emerald in color.
And a scrap of green velveteen that I made a shell out of.
Then I moved to green suits.
I do this now and again.
Not lime but a true green.
      Black trim on one.
      All green on another.
A tapestry vest on a third.
And then I switched to moss green - a washed out yellow-toned green or maybe it's blue toned.
      For casual wear.
And I just added mock-suede jacket, pants and skirt. A dark dusky green.
      And that's all OK.
But when Joan Rivers had a recent blitz - I went on-line and ordered green beads.
They are green pearls, large ones, and a long enough strand to wrap around my neck twice.
They have a dark color. High shine.
I ordered pierced earring too but they are on back order.
      Well, the beads came.
And they are different from anything I have.
They have a tactile feel that is just lovely in your hands.
They match any green I have because they set off every green outfit in my closet.
But the feel! I never felt any pearls like them.
      Incredible.
I have the button earrings in white - same feel.
      Sensual.
I like the big white button earrings.
I can't wait for the green ones.
Now I must check my wallet and my bank balance because I want to get the matching white ones!
Pearls go with old age you see.
      Oh yes they do!
Especially ones that feel like this.
