2001
| April 8, 2001 On Saturday, my stylist was not there. Do you know what it is like to plan and look forward to a make-over for weeks and weeks and then.....nothing? And I drove all that way!!! I had been so proud of myself, I had not gotten lost, I had driven the van, I had parked easily (why I drove the van) and I had gone on time. I had tried to call before I left. They claimed they tried to call me. He has the flu. Drat! So I came home, and remembering that I had time - my son was not expecting me back - I shopped for groceries - $265 worth - books and hair die included. I had decided that I would go out and do my own hair. A 40 minute drive (each way) is too much to reschedule. And I said to the grocery clerk - "Never shop when you're pissed!" She cracked up. She'd never heard that one. Bags and bags of groceries. Lots of stuff. Food was in there. Really. And I didn't fold the bags once I got home - I threw them on the floor. My rebellion. Annoys the cats. Besides, they are used for trash and my son manages to create a lot of trash. So I died my hair wild red Burgundy (it was faded) and then chunked it - it came out with light red chunks. Then I cut and thinned it, shaped it myself. Let's face it, with three aunts who were hairstylists on fifth avenue in New York for years and years, I can do my own hair. Well, it is a wild carrot color from the chunking - because the box did not have enough to do a brunette. It was the first time I ever did chunking! Next time I will know better. Hope it's not a mess when it dries - my younger son says I'm a punk rocker. (I actually like it.) I also went out and got my son four movies from Blockbuster. I pulled weeds from the rest of the front yard. I MUST go to the gym in the morning. I MUST. (I did.) But the yard looks better out front. My weed pile is two feet high and 6 feet wide. Headed for the compost pile. If the snails don't devour it first. Rained this morning and windy as all get out - of course it rained - I wanted to do more work in the garden! I like to work in a bathing suit so I can get a little sun. Not when it's 50 degrees with a 60 MPH wind! The umbrella went over again. Will spring ever show up? But then, we need the water to make power. My younger son and I sat and watched three movies all at once - then he escaped to his room for the fourth. Blowing the wad you might say. They were supposed to last awhile - for keeping him from being bored while I am at work. Because this week he isn't walking very well - recovering from Progesterone withdrawal. Oooops! Next time we bring him down slowly. It's part of the cancer regimen. He also has hurt feet because he fell twice when he was up walking. We think he bruised or pulled something. Time will tell. He was on good drugs all week (Vicodin) and has been told to go ahead, take the pill if necessary. (I actually keep that down - he's had 1/2 pill out all day and didn't take it. And today he was finally up to sit at the computer. He had spent five days unable to do that.) It's called pain management. Take the pills when it is necessary - not when the pain can be tolerated. "Bait" was hilarious. So was "The Crew". I let him watch "Charlie's Angels" by himself. I may watch it. Maybe not. And we watched "The Original Kings of Comedy". Did you know there is a "Queens of Comedy"? I have to see that one! When I went to work on Monday - in black - because there was a big meeting scheduled - I was in my formal "take me serious or else" attire - And there it was - orange hair! The colors do what they do on the box - follow the curl. I like it. Neat. And the shorter hair is easier to manage. My boss did a double take. Everyone else bit their lips. Besides, I was up to my old tricks - driving the meeting. Seems I have a project with an impossible deadline. When you are in front of me and I am driving a project to deadline.....and my bonus is attached to it...... What are you going to do with a woman in a black suit and orange hair hammering questions at you? Why, answer the questions of course! What I wanted anyway. |
