More Photos of My Younger Son

2001

June 23, 2001

The last time he had surgery - they did not detect high amonia. He did not wake up. I was in the elevator - they had him bagged. He was unable to say he was aware of what they were doing.

They knocked his out, paralized him, and put him on a ventilator. Second time on one.

When we discovered that theblessed cross had not gone into surgery with him, we raced for it and got it to the bed. Dopamine was being prepped. His blood pressure tried to go to zero.

When we added the cross to his bed - actually taped securly above the bed, his blood pressure stablilized and he woke up.

They did an EKG while he was out;. I grabbed a camera. His remarks on seeing this? "But it's OK, Mom. I did wake up." This was in one of several cameras I carried around and I just got the photos back. I was shocked to see this. How soon we try to forget.

He is now an honoree for the Peninsula Tri (athalon) Team in Training. (See below) We do get out a bit now. He can take limited walks. We go to movies. I buy him anything he wants. Almost.

And we both went back on a diet...........
