Diet Diary - Day 25

2002 Story Set

May 19, 2002
Day 25 Friday May 10, 2002 8:50 AM

Woke up to kid in shower! That's interesting. Put dog out, staggered into kitchen. Dishes ready to take on life in the sink. Need to hang up clothes in my bedroom too. Chores. Got 24 days on the diary on-line. Targeted doing 30 days just to examine them. Snapshot of a life.

Made coffee. Mouth like paper, must have been mouth-breathing last night.

Must remember to look for unemployment things. A check would be nice. Like where it is? And the next form, that is to be filed not this Sunday but the next. Also time for Cobra bill to make an appearance. And the checks from the back statement. I have to copy the Cobra ones and the bill breakdown and request a refund for two months of his medical insurance from HIPP. The start of this little monthly cycle. Speaking of which, forgot to put new Estrogen patch on hip last night. Naughty me.

Also need to check with person taking us to Giant's game Monday. One of out auction prizes! This should be fun. He is driving. But first I had better put eggs on to boil (Omega 3), load the dishwasher, and feed the animals.

Have some scanning to do to that "finish" the massive PowerPoint presentation set for "Through a Mother's Eyes". Also to get his artwork onto his website. We have slides. Must relearn how to scan them from the UMAX PowerLookIII scanner.

But first, I load the dishwasher, clean garbage out of sink. When it is in handfuls, it goes into the trash. Must get a recycle bucket for compost heap. Compost bin is assembled and up. Need to roll that over too. Comes with two bottoms. You move it top to bottom on occasion. In the country, you just use a pitchfork on occasion.

Brainfreeze - where is the checkbook? Realized it was missing, leading me to use cash at the hospital for the candy. Aha - it is on desk next to computer, buried under papers etc. Also need to see where the data for the CPA is.

Loaded the machine. Kid has bad allergies, refuses to take Benadryl pill, got him a drink. Shower was to clear up nose. We had this beat back! Here it is again! Part of up and down levels of immunity as we go through chemo.

10:00 AM Eggs are rumbling about in the pan and I start the dishwasher. I use the asthma inhaler, nose sprays (two of them) and contemplate when to get on treadmill. NOW! And do the stepper again too. The gym? Don't know. I belong there but I am already late. This close to noon it is already hot over there. My five trees I added to the house are tall and leafy and shade my back yard a lot. Need about two more I think as there are holes in the canopy. Also sun can heat up that room and I only have found one of my big drapes so only one of two sliding 6' doors is covered.

Thinking about an age discrimination article as I do the dishes. Thinking about doing live seminars, talks on the circuit. Women do not make what men make. Think I will look into that more.

Fed all animal babies, including shredded wheat for chinchilla. Had one egg and two pieces of whole wheat toast. Kid has two eggs and two slices of toast. He has not been working out do to not feeling well. See internist Tuesday. After first Giant's game. Feel like I will take pills and curl up with book. Outdoors a breeze is blowing that is cool and the sun is out, however breeze and leaves tell me that heat is coming. Will power up scanner later after I rest my wrists, get dressed. Sort-of. Trying to remember to brush hair, put on face, dress in something. Stay barefoot unless out of house.

I will take pills, read until they are settled, hit the treadmill. Sons are thinking up what to do for Mother's day. Just visit me! (Older son arriving.) Mother's are easy.

The View showed off a dual-headed shower. Hmmmmm. Is that like the dual-jet corner of the spa? Lovely. My favorite place to sit in the SoftTub,

3:00 PM Well, I got hooked on Jo Ann Furgenson's Regency A Guardian's Angel. Which I finished. I grabbed left-over egg and toast from my son, pieces cut out of two bananas heading for that big banana land in the sky, and a small slice of cake (single layer) with Cool Whip. I had some Crystal Light.

Then I put on the workout clothes, still residing on the floor by the bedroom door (my laundry pile) and did 36+ minutes on the treadmill, 7.3 laps. Did 8 laps two days ago. That's a lot when you are getting your speed back. Took advantage of the start-stop feature to hop off to turn on a fan and open a window (I get overheated) and then to do a quick stretch toward the end. I gulped a half bottle of water, which I must now finish. Also did about 30 steps per leg on the stepper, 1/2 of the set I did two days ago. Trying not to be up all night in pain! Slowly build up, that is the key here.

Of course, my son, on seeing me in bed, fetched his own Lean Pocket and then hot sauce and Triskets. He had yelled at me to get up. I asked him what he was going to do and he said, "Go to bed of course!" Oh right. He then returned with the new stretching book I had bought him. It has a section for people over 60. He had it open to that section. He pointed. I was at the end of my book, of course, since that is the only time he comes and interrupts me, so I chased him from the room. Too late. He had destroyed the romantic confusion and tension. Grrrr! His objective of course. He is proud of this.

He is now back in his bed stretched out watching TV. He had been up banging on the keyboard. He has discovered IRC Chat. He converses with his brother over this thing.

3:45 PM Got the data for the CPA and emailed it and also decided to buy $10,000 in CISCO. Should have done that sooner. Have $10,000 already invested there at a must higher price. Trick is to average the price. Broker not in but I left a message. Need a little positive thought. Market should be starting to come up. Business should start to improve. That will open the job market up.

Think that I will jump in spa in spite of the wind. Stories run around in my head. New ones, unfinished ones. Contemplating what to work on next. No word from Eric on the career update for Fabio. Been waiting on that one. No word on the date either! But then, still not down to size 14 either.

7:30 PM Made a chicken salad, one chicken breast, lots of lettuce, red onion, chopped celery (5 stems) and baby carrots. Slather with no-fat salad dressing. Curled up with another book but eyes bleary. Missed 1/2 of CSI but it was a repeat. Two Law & Orders.

And then my son's GCSF shot. Except tonight the bloody thing leaked! I caught that and put a new head on and got the rest into him. I know I twisted that thing tightly! I had this hiccup before the first time we switched to safety needles. I am supposed to have one with a long needle for draw. Then I switch the needle head once loaded. Then I inject. The switch requires that you twist that new needle on tightly. Since he isn't feeling well, I want the stuff into him. It makes him feel better. Glad I have a few extra fine needles. I couldn't reuse the same needle for fear of infection. These shots drive me crazy. Too much stress.
