2002 Story Set
| May 19, 2002 Day 28 Monday May 13, 2002 8:57 AM Giant's Game Day I woke up to a loud TV in my son's room and when I went to complain - he was in the living room and his TV was on for no reason! I have his head cold. Brat! Decided that it was a Raisin Bran morning. My nose running now I am up. Need coffee, get dressed and get over to unemployment. Also need to copy cancelled check from COBRA. And come to think of it, where it the bill? Got a week to worry about it. Took two Sudafed and one Claritin. Seems to have helped a bit Did hair, make-up. In a baggy block-color Chenille sweater and slim black slacks. Actually in earrings. 12:20 PM I am home. Other four checks coming. Unemployment requires that I attend an orientation class (?) at their center - or else. May 28th I will be there. Also, unemployment goes 6 months with a 3 month federal extension, if you are taking training. OK - which Ph.D. did you not understand? Unemployment seems geared for the blue-collar worker. They have zilch for services for the professional. I will see if a class in extension will count. I need to take either Java, Pearl or Visual Basic. I just completed FLASH training before the layoff. 1:00 PM Fed kid sandwich, I had yogurt and a coffee. We are due at University Avenue (of course!) by 5:30 PM. 2:00 PM Finished a massive web-based job hunt for technical writing. Found a few leads. Redid resume for that objective. Will send out shortly. Also looked at webmaster positions. With seven hobby sites, and having done four professional sites, I should be able to do that. Hunting acronyms now. Do I really need C++ or Pearl? I know 90% of the tools they use for writing. Weak on writing for help window. Don't think that is difficult to pick up. 3:50 PM Watching Sheriff DVD with my son - we need to leave for University Ave. By 4:30 PM for Giant's game. I had some multigrain biscuit and we each had a soda. 12:30 AM We are home. The game went 11 innings! They walked Bonds about three times! The Giants Won - bottom of the 11th. Left the park at 11:30 PM. Our TNT lad drove us back to my car down on a side street off University and Alma. I drove my son and I back to Fremont from there. Toward the end of the game, there was a flock of sea gulls flying in so high fly balls became confusing. Pretty funny. Yelled myself horse. High tension game. Tied at 4. Tied at 6. Stuck there threw a few innings. Lots of 3 outs with men on base. Lots. Finally the Braves walked the wining run home. Hilarious. Saw Bonds hit one homer into the water before they started walking him. Very long night. I understand there was a 5.2 earthquake right before the singing of the national anthem. We never felt it. We had hot dog (Kosher beef - me - Italian sausage - my son) and Kettle Corn (different taste) and soda. And a Crispy Creme donut. I am sipping tea to let the Sudafed dry me out so I can sleep. Doctor's appointment tomorrow. |
