2002 Story Set
| May 19, 2002 Day 30 Wednesday May 15, 2002 8:40 AM I put the cat away at 5:30 AM and he woke me at 6:00 AM. When I went to the door to get him back he became quiet. I went right back to bed. Woke up at 8ish, rolled around, and decided I had things to do. Head feels definitely better. Had coffee, turned on sprinklers in front (on new garden) and took out recycle cans. Pulled in garbage can (they dumped that already) and then cut up cardboard boxes. I seem to collect them. Opened all doors and windows near the fans and turned them on too. Heat will be worse today. Even closed tight as a drum the house gets hot, The one airconditioner beats itself up but it is not enough and it is old. Need to get a bigger, more energy-efficient one once I go back to work. Sipped coffee, did morning email check. Eyes sticky. Need to go finish waking up. In old soft cotton ribbed long tee-shirt-like thing from Target. Comfy. At least not as bad as running outside in the nylon thing last night. Ears still a little like cotton in them. Opened checks from unemployment. They did one at $330, and the two others are $660. Correct. One had a notice as to no form attached. That's correct. One has a form for weeks that I have already filed and been paid for, finally. That is an error. Another error. I don't believe I should send that one in. Filled out form for Board of Equalization. 12:00 PM Woke kid up! Served him eggs with egg white, 3 big slices of ham lunchmeat chopped up in the eggs. I had a Medifast. 5:00 PM After all that paperwork, I took a short break and then got dressed, in makeup and the kid dressed and went to the bank, the blood test, the pet store and Barnes & Noble. While dressing, son shaved causing the water to back up in his sink and mine. OK. I have been resisting calling the plumber but now I had to do so. Unloaded car of rabbit food (smaller bag), dog bones, cat litter Called. Plumber will be here in about 2 hours. Yelled at kid to stay dressed. No parading around in our underwear in the heat. Not until he leaves. Interesting how my Gold Card always expires when the sink backs up. OR the sink backs up about the time it is time to renew my Gold Card. That's it. It's planned. They have a flapper in the drain they can close up at renewal time. I swear that they do. Kid has a Lean Pocket I have Medifast and we both pig out on popcorn. Some Kernel corn from the ball game and some Butter Light from the microwave. Have four more Regencies novels. I was down to one. 5:30 PM Plumber arrives. Checks for pipe on roof. Gives up and comes inside. I strip down my son's bathroom. Both bathrooms are back to back, tie off in a "Y". Clog is in there. Roto goes to work. Takes two sessions. Drain is clear. 30 minutes. Also renewed my Gold card. Poor little Visa! About $109.00. I have a soda, the kid has a V8Splash. 7:20 PM OK. Now I must consider dinner. Don't want to. Ate last of kernel corn. Made a coffee. What to cook. Leftover chicken is on the list. precooked. Good in salad. Hmmmm. I'd rather read. I made a big dinner-plate salad. Lettuce, tomato, onion, scallions, green pepper, chicken breast and low-fat dressing. Resisted desire to eat all remaining See's candy in house. Had square of Hershey's dark chocolate instead. Went to bed fairly early to read. Good intentions about sleeping. Cramps started up, and I knew I would be up later. 1:30 AM I am plunging the toilet. Because I went from one extreme to the other. My insides are on the warpath. I sucked down an Imodium between runs and plunging sessions. Son is also up and cranky. Experiment in non-carbo dinner confirms my suspicions. Our bodies don't like it. He gets crabby. I get restless. My insides are due to the new pills I believe. antibiotics tend to do that. I could have done without the need for a plunger however. Sometimes low-water toilets are a pain in the -----. No that's too much! Grabbed a pink bucket (hospital equipment) and dumped water into toilet - HOT water. Worked. |
