Day 5 Saturday April 20, 2002
9:30AM Woke up to dirty dishes. Loaded
dishwasher while coffee mug in microwave. Dispensed with last bits of
now stale, week-old chocolate cake (of course I had a bite) - thought
of women in Practical Magic - chocolate brownies for breakfast. Trashed
the rest. Had my coffee. Starting late but have finally started sleeping
more than 4 hours a night. Took six weeks to get to this state. Son remains
out although has stumbled into bathroom and let cat out. (Cat incarcerated
at 7AM for door-scratching).
Watching BBC channel again. Ground Patrol. Sort of
like a garden make-over show. Love their accents. Inspector Morse is on
Monday at 8PM - must remember. This is important event for me. Hate that
we lost him to cancer. Hate that we lost Robert Ulrich to cancer.
Son due for pills and a feeding. He will photograph
his paintings today. Work for me to do on his website when the slides
come back. (www.bigmanta.com and www.mantasmedia.com) Fabio website (www.fabioifc.com)
needs work also - am woefully behind on email fan list. No news from his
camp either. Note: send email to office and ask where the update is and
if there is a new photo. Note: remind them about the date? Or wait for
waist to be smaller?
Amazon.com notified me:
The following items were included in this shipment:
1 Bridget Jones: The Edge of Rea $10.40 1 $10.40
1 Bridget Jones's Guide to Life $5.99 1 $5.99
Am excited beyond all reason.
Received word - one of my brothers lost his job (second
one down besides me). Not in as good a position to wait-out the economy
mess. Thinking about solutions.
HP laserjet printer toner arrived. Am chicken. Will
install later. If fails, off to Fry's for a new computer printer. Had
enough.
Had whole wheat English Muffin with Take Control
and raspberry jam, Omega3 Egg, a bit of the whole wheat bread I had made
(warm with jam) and all my 26 pills. Forgot asthma meds last night. Need
a new system to remind myself besides gasping for breath in the morning
.
Spent over an hour ferrying all of my son's artwork
out into bright sun (without sunscreen) so he could take slides of each
and every one. I took back-up shots on an 800 disposable. Ferried all
work back into house. Now hot and sweaty with dusty feet (no shoes of
course and in sweats, of course). Now have film to get developed.
Changed into short nightgown (because can be worn
without bra). Installed HP toner cartridge. Voila! Printer now pristine!
Want chocolate. Now can write to an agent suggested by friend and see
if she likes my work. Now must pick work to submit. Fiction or? Really
want chocolate. Will settle for a coffee. Iced?
Put down seed for bare spots in back yard and fertilizer,
ran sprinklers by hand (2 of 3 are on auto so I usually run manually).
Worked on chapter or two of sequel to Sense and Sensibility, as yet unnamed.
Made fudgy brownies from a mix using Smart Balance mixed with Vegetable
oil. Delicious. Make note: get unsweetened applesauce. If must cook (and
on weekends I must), can at least do low-fat. Ate brownie. Am also baking
potatoes.
Cooking channel running couch potato weekend - son
making me watch dozens of recipes for potatoes. I mentioned we had some
sprouting on the counter bought at an earlier request. So now they are
baking. Lunch. Baked potato (sprayed with Pam) and served with Salsa.
For him anyway. I am a butter person. Sigh.
Watered new seed. Dog has landscaped the back yard
- now have hills and valleys in a 6' wide lawn strip. Seeded it anyway.
Seems to be cooler outside. Time for a run to Home Depot. Tomorrow? After
return to the gym? Need tomatoes in the front yard and shading fruit tree
in the side yard. Shade, need shade. Been on the to-do list for three
years.
