Tuesday April 23, 2002 Creative Cooking

Woke up at 8:30AM Damn! Was supposed to be at post office. Rolled over. Shoulders hurt. Fingers hurt. Side and back hurts. Whole body would be a basket case if had done leg lifts. Woke up at 9:30AM in worse state. Got up. Staggered to kitchen for coffee. Ugh! Put gym clothes into dryer. Started new load of wash. Ignored dishes. Got a phone call while checking email. Was not fully awake and wanted a shower. Wait a minute! Need heat. Need a soak. Need to get in the bloody spa! Woke up kid, gave him fresh oatmeal and we got in together, complete with water bottles. Cooked ourselves silly. Now I can shower because washer must be finished. After kid finishes. Noticed that I need to shave my legs.

OK. Now must do shower, fix hair from wild behavior (even short it is obstinate), try new makeup again (have not got the hang of it yet) and find something to wear. Comfort. There will be a line at the post office. After that, I want to flop on couch and watch Robinson DVD. Kid wants to do mall. I need information on balloon assention. Don't ask.

12:00 PM Have showered and done hair. Will NOT go to PO at high noon! Dressed in casual pull-over-head knit floor length slop around house dress, no make up yet.

Fixing lunch. Let's see - relaxed Mom puttering in kitchen. Mushrooms were also 2-for so I have button mushrooms. Hmmm.

Slice up one box of white buttons into thirds or so. Fry in electric skillet at 250 in olive oil. After sufficient shrinkage and softening, stir in leftover stir fry from last night - peppers (red, green) and onion, some beef. Shake on lots of Italian spice mix. Added leftover vegetable mix (beans, carrots, corn). Pretty. Needed rice and did not 20 minute delay so heated a PastaAnyTime. Steamed the mushrooms until sufficiently tender and heated through. Serve with pasta with the tomato sauce from Pasta package. Voila! Leftover dish fit for a king! Low fat! Healthy! Pretty! Forgot to add garlic.

Kid grousing because I did not fix him eggs for breakfast, forgot his medication. Scolded kid. When I return to work, he must do things for self! He is 20! Soon to be 21! He reminded me that he needed to drive. Right. But first, I need the new transmission in the van. Details. Details.

Will now watch Robinson, go to PO and return DVD to BlockBuster.

My son told me that they eat the cute dog. NO! NO! NO! I just went through that with Shakelton (did I spell that right?). So we fast scene skipped the movie and were done in 1 hour. Boo Hiss! Went to PO. No Line! Goody. Went to BlockBuster. Paid late fee. Grrrr. Very hot. Blue sky. Lots of sunlight. Need a new jar of face cream, so can get makeup back off face when home. Put that on list for next week.

Tired (of course I am!) due to lack of sleep. Will have wine with dinner and zonk out tonight. Normally, when faced with wide-awake state at 1:30AM, head for a glass. (Supposed to drink two a day - I'd be in rehab if I did!) Did not do that last night since was busy reading. To be honest, Bridget is a very stupid girl and gets into way too much trouble because of this. But you cannot stop reading about her screw-ups! And poor Mr. Darcy! Talk about a white knight on a charger! Wish he'd come rescue me!

Supper was turkey leftover (time to leave the freezer) and stuffing reheated in the microwave (excellent). I fried the chicken in the electric skillet in Olive Oil until slightly browned on one side and heated through with a lot of Italian spices. Adding corn kernels, I have a marvelous supper. I did not have wine. I dosed on and off through Discovery cable and the pharaohs. Except for waking up to roll over, I slept last night.
