Another Chemo Day

2002 Story Set

Date: 10/20/02
It's another chemo day---- and we are off and running with little time for morning squabbles - for I have overslept. Must have been the two glasses of red wine for my leg hurts. From hip to knee, it is throbbing. I have skipped the gym for 6 days - I must go tomorrow - and it still throbs. Back to the Celebrex I guess.)
But the wine helped and I slept.
I also slept because I had managed a good case of insomnia on Tuesday night, staying awake and reading until 3 AM, getting up at 6:30AM and starting my long day again.
My eyes burned all day long.
Of course, I am coughing (dry cough), fighting a stuffy nose and feel genuinely bad. It's the weather - for they ay rain is coming. After months of no rain, here it is again.
My sinuses respond to the dry of winter and the pressure changes when the weather turns.
It is why I loved and still love Southern California.
We run to get blood work and he eats breakfast (roll, donut, a little egg, a V8 juice and 3 strips of bacon. I had a hard boiled egg, two strips of bacon and a fluffy donut. And of course my weekly cafˇ mocha - which I paid for in change.
The kid had sorted out my change purse - over $10 in change! No wonder my bag is heavy!
We did the access (one shot - like the blood test! Great!)
I read and we were home by 1PM.
I had, last night, brought home a gigantic family sized Pappa Murphy's pizza - a veggie and meat combo only to find my two boys were heading out. Heading out together after a rid on my wallet ($40) that is.
So I crawled into bed and dozed as much as possible, sipping wine when I would wake up.
It was why I did not wake up!
Once home, I did it again - slept. For he was out cold after eating a big chunk of pizza. (I had cooked it and had my own dinner out of it last night.)
      I had some today too.
I retired to bed with yet another book. Tuesday night was the new Caldwell novel, tonight I finished a Regency by Gayle Buck.
My eyes are crossed (old ladies have their eyes get crossed if they read too much. Takes several minutes to focus.)
By 7PM, my whole leg now throbbing, I had a Kondike bar, a decafe coffee, and went hunting the Celebrex. Stretching my leg is not helping.
I have typed extensively all week and last. Probably not helping since my tailbone has actually gotten numb! I probably pinched something.
I am actually happy they caught those two weird SOBs who had been shooting up the East Coast. I knew they would when they started leaving messages. It's like a red light - "Hey! Catch me!"
By about 9PM, CSI time, I shook my kid awake sand he had his Klondike bar and a drink and watched CSI with me until my leg sent me back to bed.
I tossed all covers off and just used the feather comforter, which I had discovered last year was best by itself. Last night I had a sheet and a cotton quilt and the feather one and woke up in a sweat. Tonight it will just be the feather one (Worked.)
My son was back in bed by 10PM.
Tomorrow we will start the GCSF shots again.
Meanwhile, I will make no breakfast - since he will have leftover pizza when he finally gets up.
We have to get to the movies this week-end! I need to be out of the house.
Oh yes. I slept better under the feather quilt. And my leg feels better today.
My stomach may be another story - it does not like Celebrex.
      Ho hum.
I think I'll focus on getting a pumpkin. And more candy. And where did I put the Halloween stuff anyway?
