Power Out

2003 Story Set

Date: November 03, 2003
Sunday night, Nov 2, tucked in bed with aching hips (horrid) and sore muscles from all the bending stretching and lifting, including those big filled containers all the way to the van and then into the storage unit, and in the middle of seven loads of laundry, the temp dropped from being 10 degrees ABOVE normal to 10 degrees BELOW normal! That is from 90 to 32.
AND THEN - as I was struggling to read the third Naked Indian book (I was not fond of it - I don't like books about batterers) but I must finish before I get to touch my new Regencies --- CHRISTMAS TALES. I love Christmas stories - esp. Mary B..
      Out went the power!
OK - quick run for flashlight - in the dark? NO GOOD! I have no idea! I do know how to get to the matches. Find a candle.
      Power flickered back on!
      OK.
I found his MAG light on the floor of the livingroom and his "blinky" under his bed and then my new flashlight and an old one that is dim.
I assembled the new one. Put it back by my bed. Restarted my book.
      We resettled
      BAM! Lights out again!
Fine - I lit candles - two in the kitchen (in glass holders on a glass stove top), and two perfumed ones in the bedroom and settled into the bed with my book and a flashlight on my shoulder.
Lovely! Now Mother Nature interrupts a book right at the end! Doesn't even wait for my kids to do it.
About 30 minutes later --- the power was back - my son was asleep - I did not bother to reset the clocks yet again until morning - just noted the time differential.
Fixed all the digital clocks this morning - the analogs of course worked fine - they also glow in the dark!
Why, with a PhD in Computer Science, I love analog clocks.
