2003 Story Set
| Date: December 28, 2003 My children will not let me forget that in a state of mild exhaustion I put the instant read thermometer in the oven And left it in the turkey! It cooked My oilder son took it apart They laughed themselves silly He said that the battery was about to blow---- The dial was brown The circuit board was melted - fried really They were fascinated with it's guts They left them scattered on the counter So when shopping madly at Sears -- in the housewares section We got a meat thermometer that can be left in the oven My old one being a mess and hard to read This dial is nearly 3" across Barely goes in the kitchen drawer We also acquired a BIG ASS Kitchen aid timer for cooking High pitched beep - my deaf younger son can't hear it - I can! So I don't forget anymore pies Of course - by burning the pie, I got to eat the insides and bottom crust - heated with cream all by myself - except for a few bites snagged by my older son My younger son meanwhile has hugged me and danced me all over the kitchen while I was stripping the turkey - this allowed him to get close enough to snag chicken and run off with it dangling out of his mouth This is a game my sons play - have played for years I am working my hands numb stripping meat off the bones - greasy, thankless job and they are trying all means to snitch pieces as I work Never mind a hot lunch of turkey, stuffing and gravy It tastes better when snagged from Momma! |
