2003 Story Set
| Date: December 22, 2003 First Eudora hung up on checking email so I quit and tried to restart the G4. That didn't work. Type 1 error - application unexpectedly quit ----. So I hit restart. And then turned the external modem on and off. (Never use an external modem. And I thought failing internal modems were bad.) And then I brought up the control panel and tried to connect. "Insufficient memory". Like ____! Not with 1/2 Gig! So I flicked it off and on again (closing the control panel first). Nada. I restarted again. No joy. So I shut down (a full cold start). Nada. I redid the restart scenario. Each time it takes a number of steps once the system boots. Each time takes several minutes. This time I got a "not enough power to USB device xxxx whatever". AHA! The culprit. So I unplugged the modem (switched the slot with another USB device) and checked the mouse connect. Restart. Success. Took 30 minutes. YUCK! I need the G5 up and running!!!! USB slots occasionally build up static and need to be unplugged and replugged in Ridiculous! So glad I am an engineer ---- I TRY to teach these guys to do it right!!! These G4 designers were not MY students! |
