First They Said Wednesday

2004 Story Set

Date: Sept 20, 2004
First they said Wednesday --- last week.
Then they called and said not yet.
Then we were told Friday - at the earliest - and Maybe Monday.
So we tried to get the 6 lady barbecue on for last weekend - and could get connected.
So Monday rolls around - kid is still active - but it's been a week.
      This is not good.
      He needs watching.
I stayed home, and tried to reach someone.
      Email.
      Phone calls,
We left for lunch (Target and Togo's) and came back - nada.
I have a bad feeling about this.
So I emailed the dr who is transferring us.
I will give them 4 hours.
He in turn called the clinic people we are going to.
By 5PM, I had an email from the dr. I had contacted that we were due in on Tuesday Morning - and get a pick line by 9:30AM.
And, by the way, they (the new doctors) should have called us by now.
So I called them - and bounced all over the place again in voice mail hell.
      No one answers the phone.
If the hospital was a business, I would have heads rolled.
The rule is - three rings - SOMEONE gets it!
And emails should come back within 4 hours. Business rules.
So, after emailing the dr back that I had called, then I got a call.
She hadn't received my phone messages, and she had left a message at WORK!
I was home with the child!
I cannot check voice mail at work from home!
      I am a contractor.
So ---- we now have directions.
And he needs to pack - I think.
It's and early morning call - so I rushed to the kitchen and made the last of the Snickerdoodles he had requested.
      Nothing beats a warm cookie.
And he put in the Soul Plane DVD.
      Oh Lord!
I think I'll eat the leftover cheesecake.
