2004 Story Set
| Date: October 1, 2004
First - they put on the wrong type of bandage where the PICC line was removed (failed) - he has allergies. He has three yellow blisters. They say "Topical". (They being dermatology) They say "do not break". But different doctors wanted to look and tore off the new bandage and broke said blisters. Yikes. So two tubes of ointment were used to re-dress the wound. Which lay open for about an hour while said stuff was fetched. This goes along with going in to find the bathroom "hat" ready for dumping, the urinal ready for dumping and the commode so dirty he would not sit on it. Give that about 20 minutes and mother went for the throat - out to the front desk --- "Hey - can I get----?" Dermatology had said yesterday that he needed a dressing change on the two-stitch biopsy. Today - they dressed it since no orders were yet written. The nurse got a pack of stuff from them for use the next day. Orders it seems go into the computer - and the nurses are not on-line. HOW SWIFT IS THAT???? So the arm is to be redressed twice a day. WHen I came in, Deb said he was to get blood. I asked the nurse two hours later and she had no orders. She called down to the Hematology group and sure enough - he gets blood. And platelets. He gets 1 Sudafed and 1 Benedryl. This is argued by everyone with a different take. HE is big enough for TWO. Sudafed is primarily a decongestant and Benedryl is an antihistamine. He has nasal and throat discharge so thick he chokes and wheezes. He is supposed to ask for the pills. He threw up - and the nurse went for a shot --- ADAVAN --- which he reacts to. I have told them this. It is in his chart. He was whacked. It slows the heart down - and has slowed him down too much if you get my meaning. YIKES!@!!! I screamed a bit. (The file is now marked.) Then at 11PM they came in to dress the arm - WITH THE WRONG STUFF - they had the leg stuff. First - they did not wake him up enough before putting alcohol on an open wound. He screamed. Then he about wrung the nurses neck. I said yes - there are tubes for this - that pack is for the leg. The other tube was fetched. The nurse was a bit stressed. SO WAS I!!!!! John was pissed but still loopy. Tomorrow I will call the doctor and ask what ton earth is going on??? And sort this bloody mess out!!!!! I stayed until 11:30 PM |
