Kitchen Fire

2004 Story Set

Date: January 4, 2005

Yikes - missed the $1,500.00 electric skillet and the new Kitchen Aide Mixer - was making a chimney up the cabinets - melted the microwave door and the control back of the oven - melted the See's candy in the box (which did not burn) inside the skillet. The one door was ajar - took the brunt of the flames - and will not clean up (we tried). Ceiling needed repainting. I had just done the walls in yellow - Will be doing them again. Papers to left are from the $1500 evening for Team in Training - we never got the meals, martial arts, other stuff since he relapsed. Papers were about to catch. So was the door. Why I grabbed the pan and stood there a moment deciding what to do. Could not go outside - curtains on the door.

Put offending flaming pan in sink - grabbed towel - poof! Fire out - not before scorching the tools and the tile (cleaned them up). Love Kaboom and SOS pads.

My son in my truck - to the right of this engine - I didn't see the other two engines - saw the chief and the cop. My son was laughing himself silly.

Scorched Earth. The washed up (by hand - dishwasher useless at this).

Yuck.

After scrubbing ----- Microwave is toast.

Stove top melted - wobbly and strange control knobs - contractor said - pull it out. It's limping along until the replacement comes. Microwave cannot be used.

Ceiling had to be scrubbed, primed and painted. All but one track light back to working. Cabinet is toast.
